If you're considering a Ravenswood Homes community you'll be pleased to know that all of our homes under construction or in the planning stage will be Energy StarŪ certified. Ravenswood Homes is an ENERGY STAR builder and has committed to building 100% of our homes to ENERGY STAR performance guidelines and has satisfied the requirements of the EPA to be officially recognized as a '100% builder'. Only a small fraction of Connecticut builders build to the Energy StarŪ Guidelines and only a handful have committed to building 100% of their homes to the Energy StarŪ Guidelines.

What is an Energy Star® Home?
Energy Star® Homes use 10-15% less energy than the current Model Energy Code in Connecticut while maintaining or improving indoor air quality! The program is sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy and is administered by local utility companies like CL&P and United Illuminating. By utilizing Energy StarŪ guidelines we can build a more energy efficient home with lower utility costs while having a beneficial impact on the environment. Energy Star Homes help protect the environment by reducing the greenhouse gas emissions associated with global warming.

What makes a home an Energy Star® Home?
Minimized air infiltration, maximum insulation, Energy Star® compliant appliances, lower cost hot water heating, high efficiency heating and air conditioning, high-performance windows, energy saving fluorescent light fixtures and state of the art construction techniques allow each home to pass rigorous inspections that lead to certification as an Energy StarŪ Home.

Lakeside Village - Our newest active-adult community in Orange, is currently under construction with all 63 condominium units to be Energy Star® certified.

Trailside Village - Our current active-adult community in Hamden, with Phase 2 now under construction. All 56 condominium units are Energy Star® certified.

Morningview is our single family community in Hamden. All 24 homes are Energy Star® certified. Phase I and two-thirds of Phase II are now complete.

Country Hill, sold out in early 2006, is our single family subdivision consisting of 34, Energy StarŪ Certified homes in Middletown.

As quoted by Ravenswood Homes' company president in the January 2006 publication Business New Haven, "The basic model energy code is what every builder has to build for. Beyond that is an option for builders to take it to another level and build an Energy Star® home. This means we're making a tighter house and a more efficient house with the appropriate energy efficient appliances and heating and air conditioning units. We use higher-rated, more efficient windows and higher-rated insulation factor as we seal up all the openings in the house that sometimes you see in framing partitions."
